If you're new to owning a puppy or it has been a while since you last had one, it's natural to feel a mix of nervousness and excitement. The prospect of bringing a new furry companion into your life can be both thrilling and daunting. You'll be getting advice coming from family, friends, and even strangers. Amidst all the different suggestions, your priority is to provide the best care for your puppy. That's where my Start Strong Puppy School comes in to guide you through this exciting journey of raising a puppy. Enrolling in my puppy school means embarking on what consider to be one of the best and most unique learning experience designed specifically for young pups.
It is a common misconception that in missing puppy classes, your puppy will miss out on important socialisation. The truth is, the bulk of your puppy's socialisation does not hinge on attending classes. What truly matters is exposing your puppy to different environments and experiences in a positive manner while you accompany them. Engaging with other puppies during playtime is enjoyable for them, but it does not constitute socialisation. Moreover, not all classes offer play sessions, and if they do, there's no guarantee that the other puppies present will be compatible playmates for your pet.
As a positive reinforcement trainer, I take pride in my approach. Each week, I am dedicated to filling my heart with kindness and my pockets with treats to ensure the happiness and welfare of your puppy. I take a wholistic approach to training. One thing I focus on helping you understand things from your puppy's perspective. I'll possibly challenge some ideas that you have regarding our relationships with dogs. It's important to note that my ultimate goal lies in helping you develop a deeper understanding of your puppy's worldview. You will learn more about how they communicate with us and each other. Throughout the course, I will educate you on different aspects of puppy care, from nail trimming to reading the ingredients list on dog food. Additionally, you will begin learning to interpret canine body language and gain valuable insights into your dog's daily communication cues.
In home, one on one training is a great way to get the whole family involved from the start. When everyone is on the same page, consistency comes naturally and your puppy learns more easily and quickly.
You get lifetime access to over 50 bite-size videos, including step by step videos of skills taught in class, in depth "Why does my puppy?" questions answered, enrichment challenges, problem prevention strategies and more!
If videos aren't your thing there's ebooks available every week. There's also single subject PDFs on every topic if you only need a couple of pointers. You will also be given assess to my Training Progress Trackers to help you keep track of where you and your puppy are up to and where you might need more help.
You receive 12 months phone and email support when you enrol as well as access to my exclusive online community support group only available to clients of Your Dog & You. It's like having a trainer in your pocket for all your puppy related enquiries.
My private lessons are designed to help you learn how to safely socialise your puppy. You will also learn how to deal with common puppy issues like toilet training, biting, chewing and jumping. You will learn how to know if your puppy is enjoying a play session or if they need some space for a moment. I can also help with harness advice and fitting. Each week includes an enrichment activity and field trip ideas for places to take your puppy.
Completing the orientation unit before our first lesson allows us to get off to a flying start with your puppy. By the end of my puppy course your puppy will; respond to their name, willingly swap one item for another and accept gentle handling of paws, ears etc. We will teach your puppy basic foundation skills like sit, down and stay. They will also begin learning how to walk on a loose lead.
